WHY I WALK
Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease, and I'm not okay with that. I walk because 1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease and 1 in 7 don't even know it.
I am one of them that was. I started my battle in 2008 when I was diagnosed. I didn't have to start dialysis right away.
In December 2014 I began my dialysis battle.
I remained on dialysis until September 10th 2018 when I received the best gift of all.
A nice young lady by the name of Mariana stepped up to help her mother receive a kidney transplant.
Unfortunately she was not a match for her mom but elected to continue to be a donor when she was told about the triangle system. I received Mariana's kidney and they found another live donor for her mother.
On that special day, September 11th 2018, both of us received a 2nd chance at life.
I walk to raised funds that support the National Kidney Foundation, who was the first to identify kidney disease as a distinct, treatable illness. They developed the staged system of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment - a worldwide standard today - and release and update treatment guidelines to improve patient care.
Join me in making these advances possible by donating to my efforts!
